Hi Haydn,
I enjoyed your presentation yesterday. I'm still trying to get my head around how to use all this social software to best effect. Something definitely to be explored further, especially with the traditional VLE focus on content.

Having said that, simply using the VLE as a repository is a useful starting point for some people, but it doesn't build a community in the way that blogs do. I sometimes think of Moodle as a half-way house - it can be used for content, but its ethos and focus is on a constructivist approach to learning.

Hi All

The presentation was energetic and enjoyable. The constraints of VLE's can be quiet oppressive, at there main advantages seem to be associated with student tracking rather than delivering interactive/social learning. The next generation of intelligent VLE’s using user agent modelling promises more but who knows if they will deliver. The social software shown by Haydn can be used to great effect to foster learning communities and faciliate learning on demand.

Thanks again to Haydn for a stimualting presentation.

Regards Phil Glew
